Your Rights Are Our Priority

At Hosanna Community Care, we are committed to making sure your rights are respected across all our services. You have the right to be treated fairly, make your own decisions, and live a life that reflects your values, culture, and goals. These rights are protected under both NDIS legislation and the new Statement of Rights in aged care (effective November 1, 2025).

What You Have the Right To

– Make informed choices about the supports you receive
– Be in control of your own life and decisions
– Live independently and take risks (we call this ‘dignity of risk’)
– Practice your culture, values, religion, and beliefs
– Choose who supports you and how
– Have your privacy, identity, and relationships respected
– Be supported in your preferred language or format (e.g. Easy English, Arabic, visual/audio)
Have a Registered Supporter help you make decisions (for aged care clients from November 1, 2025)
Access advocacy services when you need independent support
Raise concerns or complaints without fear of punishment or unfair treatment
Have your feedback valued and acted upon

How We Support Your Rights

Supporting your choice of Registered Supporter (aged care clients)

– Ensuring your input shapes your service plan and supports

Person-Centred Support

You are at the centre of everything we do. We will always:

– Support you to make your own choices
– Provide information about your options
– Help you reach your goals
– Respect who you are and what matters to you
Honor your rights under both NDIS and aged care frameworks
Adapt our approach as aged care evolves (new Support at Home program from November 1, 2025)

Your Right to Advocacy and Support

You can access independent advocacy at any time:

For NDIS participants:
– Contact your local disability advocacy service
– NDIS participant advocacy services

For aged care clients:
Older Persons Advocacy Network (OPAN): 1800 700 600
– Independent aged care advocates

For all clients:
– Cultural and language-specific advocacy services
Registered Supporter services (aged care clients from November 1, 2025)
